About the Area South Surrey and White Rock

The city of Surrey British Columbia is the largest city in BC in terms of land mass with over 32,000 hectares and is the second largest city in BC with 563,652 residents in 2022. In contrast Vancouver is the most populated city with over 2 million residents but has less than half the land mass of Vancouver with 11,255 hectares. The City of Surrey population grew by 9.7% from 2016 to 2021 and is expected to surpass Vancouver by 2030 in terms of population size.

The South Surrey area is the largest of Surrey’s town centres by land mass. South Surrey borders the pacific coastline to the west and White Rock to the east, the United States to the north and Langley to the South. White Rock is a small coastal city of 5.13 square kilometres, bordering South Surrey in BC. Originally known as a vacation town, White Rock is now home year round residents who choose the area for it’s moderate climate, ocean breezes and sweeping views.
